In 2017, I lost my husband David to Melanoma. David was such a huge part of Baby Bare designing the prints and managing our website. He was dad to the three girls who have inspired the brand from its beginnings to where it is today. He was my biggest support in the day to day running of our business.
David had regular skin checks. He didn't spend time in the sun. He worked indoors and always took care in the sun. Unfortunately no amount of care or prevention could save him from this sneaky disease.
His cancer spread at such a rapid rate that he went from having no evidence of disease to dying in less then 5 months. Melanoma is an aggressive and fast moving disease.
David didn't respond to any treatment available. Sadly 1 in 5 advanced Melanoma patients still face this same problem. We are raising money to find answers in the hope that we can help other parents out there survive to see their kids grow up. In the hope that the kids wearing our nappies can grow up not to fear Melanoma.
$2 from every nappy sold in June will go towards a new project that is being run looking into patients like David. Help up find a cure to this awful disease.
Did you know:
- Regular Skin checks can help catch Melanoma in the very early stages.
- Melanoma kills an Australian every 5 hours.
- Melanoma is the most common cancer in young Australians (15–39 year olds) making up 20% of all their cancer cases.
